This is the depth chart that has been pieced together as the team as been practicing. Obviously, players move up and down the depth chart on any particular day during the preseason.

The nickelback will most likely be Lydell Sargeant, assuming he loses the starting job to AJ Wallace. We wre told that AJ Wallace has "all the talent in the world" but needs to come to practice and play like it. Jason Ganter has also seen some time as the nickelback.

TD, there seem to be various reports out there, most don't think it's a serious injury and expect him to be back soon. Others seem to think it could be longer. We'll let you know as soon as we hear something concrete.

Such a shame about Devon Still. He is the strong side DE that this team is lacking. Hopefully something productive comes of his redshirt and it's not just a wasted yet.

Penn, while I think Still could indeed by a stud DE, I think he needs to take a look at Levi Brown. Still could make millions at the LT spot.

Along those lines, what's the concensus on Odrick? I seem to remember folks projecting him as an OL when he verballed, as well...

K... at this point it looks like Odrick will stay on the dline. He could have been a great OT, but he really wants to play defense. At this point we think it's a little late in the game for him to try and switch positions.

    Thanks for the early projection.

Do you see any of the freshmen breaking the two-deep and earning some playing time?

Given the current state of the RB depth chart, Green certainly sounds like he could be a possibility. Other than that, I don't really see a need for many of the frosh to play. Perhaps one or two on special teams. Devon Still certainly would have had a shot, but the ACL injury ended that. There is always a surprise or two, we'll keep you updated.

I realize that In Case Of Emergency, Shaw shifts over to tackle, but holy crap are we thin at that position. A.Q. better stay healthy, too.

Also, exactly what is going on with the backup RB situation? I thought Royster was a darkhorse candidate for actual playing time as a true freshman last year...now we're hearing that he's not performing well?

Ugh. It just seems like there's so much potential with this team, but they're dangerously thin in so many areas. Nevermind what the coaches would even do with such skill position talent. There's no sense in giving gourmet ingredients to someone who can only cook a Pop Tart.

      RUTS,

I look for little Wiz to make a big move up the depth chart. He could potentially make the 2-deep at either guard or center from early indications.

Royster will most likely take over the back-up role once the season starts. He is a more complete RB than is Kinlaw. While impressive, look for Green to red-shirt.

What happened to Fentress and Harriot? They are both redshirt sophomores and yet don't show up on a depth chart anywhere? How did Peretta pass both of them in one spring practice?
