Sean Lee is the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week
Sean Lee has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. A well deserved award for what we predict will be many more this year. Whether it was sacking the QB, stuffing the run or defending the pass, Lee looked like a complete player against FIU. I know Jack Ham called Poz the best LB he has ever seen at PSU but he might have spoken too soon.
Lee is a perfect compliment to MLB Dan Connor. Lee's blitzing ability is unequaled on the PSU team and his pass defense ability equals Connor. At this point, Connor might have the edge on shedding blockers and pure tackling technique. Then again, Lee is a year younger.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that Lee has more athletic ability than any PSU LB since Lavar. I know that sounds like a stretch, but it isn't. With that said, here is hoping that Lee grooms the next candidates for LBU much like Poz and Connor did for Lee. And if last game is any indication, Navarro Bowman might someday challenge Lee for the most athletic LB at PSU since Lavar.
Once again, congrats Sean Lee.

Let's not jump the gun on Lee. He did have a great game and will be a heck of a LB, but to say he will be better than Poz and Connor is a little early. I think Connor is a little more athletic than Lee, but Lee is pretty damn impressive. Throw in Bowman, Hayes, and Gbadyu, that's just pure athletic terror at the LB position. Long live LBU.

A little to early for the kuddos. You could be right; however, repost after UM, tOSU, WIS, and the Iowa game. FIU was the worst team ever to walk into "The Beav". Seton Hall [Greensburg, Pa] [formerly Seton Hill Girls College] could have held FIU scoreless for a half.

Lee played possessed on saturday. Hoping to see more of this kind of intensity this saturday.
I'm really nervous about the ND and Michigan games. Both those teams are going to play a lot more for pride than anything else. The season isn't lost for both those teams of course, but pride becomes a HUGE factor. Let's see how it turns out.
Did AJ play corner at all against FIU ?

Yes he did, but he is currently still running with the second team. He does and we were shown a nice little mix in the nickle with Wallace, Davis and King manning the corners with Scriotto and Sargent in the S's position. I thought that was interesting.

I thought Lee had a heck of a game. He seems to play with his heart on the outside of his jersey. This guy is relentless in everything that he does on the field.
Here is to Lee, on having a great season..
Oh yea, I bet Navorro Bowman might be starting over Sales come the Michigan game...

I'm on record stating that Bowman is the most athletic LB since Lavar. I think he a similar style to that of Ernie Sims and Derrick Brooks.

Didn't Lee play on a championship contending BB team at Upper St. Clair HS? That would be a further indication of his athleticism.
Wasn't that also true of Lavar?

He was the key player on the WPIAL championship BB team his senior year - played varsity beginning his freshman year. Also named as one of top 5 WPIAL/Pgh City League BB players. Elite all-around athlete, most people don't realize how much so.
