PSU beats Michigan 2-0?
Several articles have hit the wires the past 24 hours regarding the eligibility of Michigan freshman Artis Chambers. Apparently, per an "arcane" Big Ten (not NCAA) rule, Chambers wasn't eligible to play this season (or even be enrolled, depending on the speculation you read). The Big Ten is looking into punishment, which in a worst case scenario may include Michigan forfeiting its win over PSU.

Great, this would prove Paterno's theory that you don't need offense to win. That 900 pound gorilla exists in this series, regardless of any potential forfeit. We lost, I don't even want the win.

i imagine this will probably result in a forfeiture..so carr had to cheat to beat us. long live Joepa! but seriously, an inelligble player being used will almost always result in forfeiture. this is crazy

I will not count this as a win for PSU. You have to earn a win, in my book. That loss what what they earned instead.

I don't want the win. No thanks.

Force Michigan to start Morelli the rest of the year. They can keep the win.

Since Morelli almost single-handedly gave the Illinois game away, I wonder if the NCAA will award us a victory if we can prove that Morelli was ineligible.

Do not want the win or the record changed; in fact part of me hopes the team does not win a single game the rest of the way.
Changes in the staff must be made and until the team is stinking out loud and the seats are starting to look less full; it won't happen

It's the Big Ten. does anyone honestly expect them to strip UM of wins?
If you believe that the Big Ten will do that to their golden boy, I have a bridge to sell you.

Usually with stuff like this they say they will launch and "investigation". Then they let the season play out and they hand out punishment after the season is over. So realistically I'm not expecting to be awarded that win until after we play in the Music City Bowl.

Music City Bowl would be an accomplishment.
I only see 1 sure fire win, and that's Temple.
Iowa can beat us, pretty good defense.
Wisconsin can beat us.
Indiana can beat us (road game).
OSU surely can beat us.
Purdue could beat us, jury is still out.
MSU gave Wisconsin all they could handle, and it's a road game.
Moral of the story is, PSU needed to win on Saturday, it was the biggest game of the year for them. They didn't, their Sr. Captain played horrible once again, players do not feel he can get it done. Put in Devlin and this team would get an instant shot of adrenaline.
Keep Morelli in, and PSU is heading for a 6-6 or worse season.

The Big Tenn will wait to see how Michigan's season goes. They won't make a decision until they see if it will cost bowl revenue.

we suck but in reality if they cheated, they should forfeit...simple as that. did oklahoma have to forfeit their wins last year?

Yeah, the special teams appearances the inelgible player made, were certainly the difference in Michigan beating us. FWIW, they self reported the issue.
Right now, we could have Kerry Collins play QB, and Tony Hunt at RB, but with the great playcalling, results would be the same.

I believe OU forfeited the wins that Bomar (I think) played in.

Also, if they have to forefit the win it could cost them MILLIONS-- cause it could cost them a bowl, instead of rose, captial one maybe downgraded to a almao, sun bowl depending what happens, this is huge for both teams IF the big ten makes a decision before the bowl season.

UM won't be losing millions. Every Big 10 team gets the same cut of bowl money, no matter if you go or not. Basically, if you aren't in the BCS (for a prestige/popularity factor) or the title game, it doesnt really matter which bowl you go to.
Indiana has gotten the same amount of bowl money as Michigan.
The only factor I can think of is if letting them keep the win (which I think they will do anyway--a forfeit is a bit overboard) was the different between having 1 or 2 Big10 teams in the BCS (thus ensuring an extra 4.5 million divided by 11 schools). But since OSU, Wisconsin, and Purdue are in better shape to ensure the Big10 gets 2 teams in, there is little worry about bowls playing a factor in the forfeit penalty.

While I would find it HIGHLY amusing, I would not consider it a victory, much like Joe says about the 1970's bowl game (Sugar?) where Oklahoma had to forfeit to us. Something to the effect of "We know who won that game"
Oh, and I think most are correct, the Big Ten won't do anything about it.

I don't care what happens with this one way or another really. But for some perspective...Lloyd had no issues with adding 2 seconds...or with all of the calls of PSU feet out-of-bounds and UM feet in-bounds...
$hit happens. I am ok with UM getting screwed out of the win. And yes, the gorilla is still there holding the streak, even if it counts as a W for PSU.

This is an embarrassment to the Big Ten and it is no ones fault other than Michigan. I caution anyone to blame Penn State fans for feeling that we won that game. They are justified to feel that way. I am a disappointed that Lloyd Carr didn't make a press conference and say "Penn State : We forfeit to you. You won the game because you played by the rules and we didn't." But, Michigan has no class and only think about themselves, and they wouldn't do that.
As a Penn State fan, I don't like to win a game by a forfeit. But a forfeit is the only fair thing to do since Michigan made the mistake and played a player that was not eligible. Anyone who believes that Michigan should not forfeit this game has been brainwashed into thinking that Michigan University is above the rest of the Big Ten conference. What ever happened to fair play and ensuring that all teams are playing on a level playing field? As if the crooked officiating in '02 and '05 wasn't enough preventing Penn State from beating Michigan in regulation. (Tony Johnson in '02 catching a ball with BOTH feet in bounds, but being ruled out of bounds on Penn State's final drive - this led to instant replay in college football- & Lloyd Carr in '05 convincing the refs to add two seconds on the clock, giving Henne one more play to ruin Penn State's '05 undefeated National Championship season) Michigan is an embarrassment and does not deserve to be mentioned in the same same breath as any other team in the conference.

amen! a rule if a rule. if they violated this rule, do you really think there aren't otheres that are being compromised? Harbaugh is right when he questions their integrity over at his alma matter....

Don't disagree that a rule is a rule. However, to find comfort in thinking this F-up by Michigan changes the outlook of their beating us NINE STRAIGHT TIMES, is dilusional. They made a big mistake and it should cost them, but PSU did not win.
In any event, my guess is that there will be no ruling until after the season, so there will be no impact regarding potential bowl game or placement in them.
