Laschout.com has learned that neither WR Chris Bell nor DT Philip Taylor were in attendance at Penn State's practice today. In addition to this DB Knowledge Timmons and DT Chris Baker watched todays practice while wearing street clothes.

I don't mind seeing Bell off the team. He is an immature cancer to the offense. He can't even run a route correctly, maybe not even the right route at all. He is a punk he need to be taught a lesson.

How do you know he's a cancer to the team? How do you know he's punk? What, do you play on the team? Doubt it. Just because he ran a bad route or two and dropped a touchdown pass doesnt make this kid a bad egg. He's young and talented and wants the damn ball. He has playmaker potential writen all over his face, but cant do much with it when you have one of the most inconsistent QBs throwing to you. I feel bad for Bell, who got suckered into going to PSU to play with an awful QB and an underachieving staff.

IMO - Bell has more talent and upside than any other receiver on roster. That said, he may be undisciplined and somewhat immature right now, but correcting those things are not impossible. I wouldn't, and don't think staff would give up on this kid either.
As for being a "cancer," you sir are over the top. I guarantee you have rooted for guys that were a bigger pain in rear to their teammates, than Bell is.

Bell's problems are all mental. The guy has a ton of upside, but he needs to focus on the little things and keep his mouth shut.
In a sense, he is kinda like BJ. BJ had all the physical tools in the world, but couldn't put it all together until very late in his career.
Right now, imo, Bell definitely belongs where he is on the depth chart.

Bell being a cancer is way wrong. The kid is arguably the most talented WR PSU has ever had. He's young, he's immature, and I'm sure when you were 19 years old you didn't ever do anything stupid.

I live here in State College and there is another rumor on the loose. Via sources in the school district and in the local community...apparently Joe lost it on a student yesterday outside Holuba Hall. The student was walking by the building as Joe was exiting. Joe approached the kid and started grabbing him by the backpack while screaming at him. He was accusing him of trying to spy on his practice. Some of the other coaches had to pull him off the kid. Dare I say "Woody Hayes all over again!"

Perhaps Coach will address it in next week's luncheon. That should give plenty of time to come up with the way to explain how student tripped and was falling, and Coach instictively grabbed him to stop youth from falling. Coach then told him to be careful, patted him on back (backpack) and offered well wishes on rest of day.
When will we get it? Nothing to see here, move along!

I find it amazing that a report that 2 guys aren't at practice automatically links them to an the alleged fight. Is it possible that they weren't at practice for other reasons or should we automatically tie the fight and the practice attendance together? I didn't see anything in the report that said "they weren't at practice becuase they were in a fight"... or am I blind ?

Playing on the scout team during the middle of a week's preparations doesn't scream out to me that they are even in plans to be playing this week....may as well not been practicing at all then.

but you also have the obligation to make sure what you are reporting is accurate.
Personally, I have no time for Lashout.com. The story they did on me regarding the situation that occured with Michael Shaw during the summer had 11 inaccurate statements and many of them were blatently false.
No one from there website contacted me to get my side of the story. The best example I can give that was blatently false in that article was the accusation presented that I refused to let the assistant coach listen to BWI's tape conversation it had with Shaw.
I don't know where they got their information regarding that comment, but it was totally inaccurate.
When I was contacted by the coach in question it took place on my cell phone and I was on the first tee at Tolftrees getting ready to play a round of golf. I have at least 25 witnesses that heard the whole conversation. I couldn't have possibly told the coach in question I would't allow him to listen to the tape because I didn't have it in my possession and I was on my cell phone at Tolftrees.
You're right, everyone has the right to express an opinion, but personally I take what is posted on Lashout.com with a grain of salt because of my personal experience.
However, I will say they do have an ear of someone in Penn State's athletic department because their reports usually do have some grain of accuracy in their updates about the problems that have surfaced recently with Penn State's football program.

Any chance Chimaeze Okoli sees some time? He was recruited as a DT and odds are he might be needed. Could they burn his redshirt? It might be worth it to provide back up for the 2nd half of the season if he gets 15+ snaps a game.

Yes, if Okoli wasn't told to get down to a reasonable weight required to play DE...in order to see playing time and then RS anyways, he could possibly burn his RS and see time. But at this point, what use would a 265-275 pound 6'5 DT/DE serve. He probably doesn't play leverage very well because he is extremely young, and he is 6'5 + and pretty lanky. He would get eaten alive playing DT.

I didn't know if you knew or not, or even if it is true. But I have heard that numerous times, numerous places. If it isn't true then hell burn that red shirt immediately! If we can do it with Wiz so he can play 5 plays against Buffalo certainly we can do it with Okoli. And don't buy into the whole, Wiz got hurt argument. Regardless of whether he is hurt or not, he wasn't playing unless one of our other Gs got hurt or became a serious liability. Or worse yet, god forbid an injury from Shipley.
Without one of those 3 things happening, Joe will be asked about him 3-4 weeks from now and say he got banged up and the kids in front of him have played well. It was a waste, especially with Poti being at RG for much of the summer.

I'm glad that he reads the blog for his information. Perhaps he's upset that we got all the scoop and he didn't. Perhaps he's upset that they are a "professional" news reporting agency, yet our rinky dink blog broke the story wide open. Either way, I could care less what some local newspaper hack writes. Maybe if he keeps working hard he can write for us in 10-15 years.

I'm slamming Bracken because more than once he has written articles what have has less factual basis than anything we have put out. I think it's laughable that Rice is lecturing bloggers when the CDT's own reporters have been guilty of doing much worse. Good point as well on the CDT bloggers.
