Just to caution, there are some major differences between us and the site ran by a revered Guru. Among those differences are the following:
We don't need the group think that is necessary just to survive in that community.
All non-inflammatory thoughts are welcome and shared. That is regardless of whether staff agrees or not.
We do not refer to our visitors as "The Flock," and will not ban for simply disagreeing with our members.
We prefer to offer the realities of the PSU Program, and understand that people generally prefer good news. However what happens, good or bad, is beyond our control. We certainly won't choose to forgo passing along info, just because it is bad.
Things we don't do:
If it is free stuff you want, not going to happen here. We make no money, it is a hobby. TOS provides these hats, we do not.
We do not wear the uniforms like TOS, nor do we provide them to anyone. Please ask The Guru for a catalog if you truly desire one of theirs. It is said they keep plenty of inventory in stock, and as a courtesy we show their 2008 uniform.
We have no staff volleyball games like TOS has.
No reserved parking like that available at TOS HQ. We envy their nice company vehicles, and admit that we aren't that privileged.

With your dollars, "The Pilgrim" has only the best transportation, and lives in the most exclusive neighborhoods. We had a PI tail him, and received this photo as evidence. Damn, look at those rims, must be at least thirty-sixes, and has a lift kit too!
We understand that what is published here will not always be what many want to hear, hope you understand that as well. If you don't like LO, simply move on and allow others who find it appealing the opportunity to enjoy.

Welcome back. The only problem I have is what seems to be the need to continually slam "The Pilgrim". I read your site for its information content, not to read criticisms of other sites (unless it is in response to a specific issue).

tony... why do you have to hate? apparently you weren't here several months ago, because there was actual information on this site one of the days several months ago.
Between the quarterly actual pieces information, the guys who run this site have done a fabulous job of reporting what FOS and BWI are reporting while offering their opinions about Anthony Morelli and Joe Paterno.
If you don't like it, don't come here!

I liked the predictions post yesterday. Two questions about the LJ move. Is he leaving for another position, or the ministry, as most people think? Also, any word on potential replacements?

There have been all kinds of rumors in regards to what LJ will be doing. I've heard everything from just flat out retiring to coaching with the Chiefs to Business with his sons. Typically we hear these rumors this time of the year, but this time I think it's actually true. I hope not, we need LJ badly.

I subscribed to the Pilgrim's site for a little while. He's a piece of work but he's not even the worst guy on that site when it comes to going all 1984 on the message boards. That McJoker takes himself WAY too seriously.

Why the deep obsession over Grosz? The guy is the Andy Rooney of Penn State. He has one source at Lasch: a certain former offensive coordinator (cough ... fran ganter ... cough). Everyone except JoePa knows this. But Fran is so far out of the loop anymore that at least half of what he passes on to grosz is wrong. Grosz has such a big mouth and has burned so many people (including refs that work the PS scrimmages) that no one says anything substantive to him anymore. He is CONSTANTLY dropping the name of some guy at Old Main, rich deugenia (sp?), who is supposedly close to spanier. I think they funnel grosz misinformation just to amuse themselves. How do I know this? One of groszs’ friends has a bigger mouth than he does

OK, maybe I'm stupid. I've followed PSU football for years, but have only recently learned about internet chat rooms like this one and Scout/audibles.
It seems like there are codes here which I don't know.
Can someone help me out?

easy answers...
1. TOS= the other site. It is how Fight on State refers to Blue White Illustrated message boards and vice versa.
2. The pilgrims landed at plymouth rock, messed up some injuns and ate turkey. It is also allegedly a reference to some leader at Blue White Illustrated that may or may not look pilgrimish.
3. Grosz is the leader of BWI's website--part of the rivals network.

TOS refers to a different message board/chat room.
Pilgrim is another name for Grosz, who is the spiritual leader of TOS, and is, I gather, a frequent poster on TOS.
Is this right?

TOS is short for "The other site". When used here or on scout message boards, it usually pertains to BWI's site. When used on BWI's boards, it usually pertains to scout's boards.
"The Pilgrim" is the name given to a certain publisher of TOS who's last name is the noun in your third question.

you catch on fast fred, the Pilgrim isn't just a poster, he runs the site. Be careful, if you don't go over to Grandpaps and eat milk and cookies and chug down Koolaid after the games, you won't be welcome on TOS.

I appreciate the recent posts which impliedly show why there was a pause and your position - I know you guys will enjoy making fun of the wig a lot, but a whole post with amish pictures? haha, come on man - I get it and understand, glad you have done it now, but how bout some football posts moving forward? For instance, no game recap or grades from the bowl game? haha, also, no closing thoughts on any of the seniors leaving and potential draft status or something like that - i think that would be a cool read, but anything related to football would be cool

Apparently the vast majority of guys here just dont have senses of humor. The Phil stuff is funny. This is your guys' website, if you want to have fun at someone else's expense I say go right ahead. The only ones who have posted comments saying how wrong it is should ask themselves if they have ever amde fun of someone. I highly doubt there is anyone who can say 'No.'

Hey 17, thanks for the updates - the LARGE majority of PSU fans really enjoy the posts and a lot of us share similar views...it is nice to have a non-pay, non-PSU athletic run cite where people who actually follow PSU can talk/argue as well as receive nuggets of info from you guys

Steps to becoming a self-proclaimed guru
Step 1- Pump up the team as a national contender and predict 13-0 (use 12-1 to appear more objective) season, exciting the blind lemmings again.
Step 2- When step one fails to pan out throw the coaches under the bus and trash the players for failing you.
Step 3- Tell lemmings how the team was so close to fulfilling your predictions and next year will be the year.
Step 4- Tell lemmings how you will vote in the Heisman (ignoring that they'd never actually grant you a vote but don't mention this to lemmings).
Step 5- Read other sites (previously called other guru's 900 lines) to write your reports.
Step 6- Tell lemmings you've been doing this for 35 years and your credibility is second to none (ignore the fact that you can't even be honest about your hair-do).
Step 7- Pump up "super secret silent verbal" to lemmings for offseason excitement.
Step 8- Make a random verbal fit as your "super secret silent verbal".
Step 9- Thank blind lemmings for ignorant praise.
Step 10- When lies are uncovered blame closest person available (staff members, a random hacker or that poor Virginia Stringer).
It is so easy you too can call yourself a guru just by following these simple steps.
