Charges dropped against Austin Scott
Today was Austin Scott's best day in quite some time. All charges stemming from an accused rape last October, were dropped today by the Centre County DA. Congratulations Austin Scott!
For those who think that an agenda by the Centre County D.A. Office is purely myth, you might want to look again. How many cases must be thrown out to prove the point? Voters absolutely have to take matters into their hands at election time, and get this DA out of office. He has sworn to uphold justice and serve all equally, but in my opinion, has willfully chosen to sprint at the opportunity of bringing any bad press against the PSU Football Program. Validity of charges has little matter, Book 'em!
Unfortunately, Scott and others have no recourse against the DA Office, but perhaps Madeira can be reviewed as was done to Mike Nifong following the Duke case. That would be great day for the PSU Program, and people of Centre County as well.

How many lives have to be ruined by this idiot before he is held accountable. I am all for justice being served, but he seems less interested in justice and more interested in seeing his name in print.

Even though it sucked for him getting kicked off the team...it really did help our running game by getting kicked off the team. He was a horrible running back, but i wish the best to him.

I would like to take this opportunity to stick it in the face of all the Laschout Haters who are on the Fringe BWI McFreak Board, and over on F.O.S., running their mouths about how "Laschout will never Run this Story..." blah blah blah.
Laschout tells it like it is. Period.
Good Luck to Austin, and it's a shame this freak with mental problems cannot be charged with False arrest.
But the point is, Laschout DID RUN THE STORY, SO THE FRINGE WILL HAVE TO COME UP WITH MORE INVENTIVE WAYS TO HATE ON LASHOUT.
GO PRAY AT YOUR JAY TEMPLES, PATERNO STATE LOVERS.
WE ARE NOT PATERNO STATE, WE ARE PENN STATE. GOT IT, SC, AND CAROL???
LONG LIVE LASCHOUT.

FOS has become part of the pro-joe lovefest. They've paid me the high compliment of banishment. How will I live?

To me Penn State football is Joe Paterno. Also, hating on the haters that hate laschout. I'd say that is a step below them. So they ran this story...big freaking deal....and they run nothing about Sean Lee.
Reply to this
Why run anything on LEE. It was not breaking story. A top talentet kid blew out a knee. We lost a leader. What is worth writing about. Nothing to think about or take sides with. No one wants to see atalented kid go down. Lee was one of the few positive things going on at PSU.
As we have said many times we are not going to post fluff pieces just so we can post something. Let the WIG handle that. We will worry about giving you actual breaking news and real opinion pieces. Not fluff for the sheep to follow.

how is this breaking news? its been all over the internet all day

I guess you ignored the opion part of my statement. The blog was made to talk about the DA and his bias. Not just the scott info. SC for hating us so much you seem to be our biggest fan. You come on here and are proven wrong time after time. Go back to BWI. Rumor has it they are losing people by the minute. They can use all the sheep to return home.

nttnylyon and others - i thought you told me you don't just repost already commonly known information. has the platform of this blog changed? people have criticized phil for thenittanylion.com for doing the same. it appears laschout is now doing the same....
Reply to this
sc - not sure what time others might have gotten hold of the story, but our entry is time stamped. Therefore it was not reposted information, and as joe stated, was intended to start discussion about the DA. Guess your agenda caused you to miss that.
Because you don't read it until evening, does not mean it wasn't there. Hell, even now you still have no idea of what is there. Back to the mothership for you, and tell Phil we said "hi."

SC give it a rest. You're just making yourself look like a dildo.

wow...are there any recruits even contemplating committing to Penn State? I can think of one I think is in the fold but is the dreaded silent verbal...nothing to do with BWI info. But to be completely honest I expected 2 commitments today...at the least!

why is it that people come on this page to bash the writers more than debate the question? If you don't like the website...go...elsewhere?
as far as austin scott goes, i do wish him well, but most likely he football career is over. tainted goods, bad rep

I am happy for AS that his chrages were dropped, maybe this was the final wake up call he needed.
He would have no had this entire problem though if you was not out hitting the bars looking for some strange. I was out 5 nights per week, but I paid for college on my dime and not held to same high standards that PSU players should live up to.
Anyway - Great BW game and I love seeing #25 out there, reminds me alot of A Harris. Big for a RB and small for classic FB...just the right combo of size/speed.

what the hell does this comment even mean...I think you guys need to screen the incoherent babble a little better...weird
and is there any upcoming post on the BW game...seeing as I live out of state and don't get the BT network I haven't heard too much on it and any insight would be greatly appreciated

What I was trying to point out was, If Austin wasn't out at the bar before a game at 3am he would never had this entire mess happen. I know these are young men that also want to have a good time but he owes it to his team to be doing the right thing, not out partying and picking up chicks.
That is just my opinion, when you get a full scholarship to play sports there are certain responsibilities that go with it. Being out late before a game drinking is not "doing the right thing", this guy had so many chances.
I wish him the best of luck moving forward, there are plenty of guys at the next level who were not the best college players that excel.

The Centre County DA office is a disgrace. This is like the 3rd or 4th issue with a PSU football player that has been tossed. Since I beleive in conspiricy theories, I tend to think the Spanier and some other BOT made donations to Madiera's campaign based on the promise he would go on a witch hunt against football players to make the program look bad so it would be easier to get rid of JoePA. Speaking of the DA, how about the 2 clowns running for Congress. One guy eluded the cops on a DUI and hid in his house and the other guy os playing PI vidoeing his ex-girlfriend having sex with another guy. Politics in Centre County has truely hit the crapper.

Honestly though..
what team is going to take a chance on him? he did nada in his college career, except against FSU, and last year was pretty good at fumbling.
head isn't in the game, folks...maybe he'll make a practice squad.

the WORST thing that could have happened at the spring game happened - 73K people break a record - yeah, that shows the trustees how mad the fan base really is - if fans complain online, but pay their money, NOTHING will change...if you stop the cash flow, magically change will occur soon after - stop thinkin the admin cares what you think...they only care about money

Derek, this just in, the FOS and BWI are basically run by the same people. They are all sheep. Just yesterday I saw McAndrew out playing golf and Bullerock and Psuro were arguing about who was Tom's REAL caddy!

Its been pretty obvious that Scott doesn't have a future as an NFL back. Maybe he could play in Canada or the arena league. He seemed to lack the discipline, focus and maturity he would have needed in abundance to translate his average college ability into an NFL opportunity.
If anything positive came out of this rape accusation, it may be that the experience gained him some maturity. Let's hope.

Joe Paterno recruited him, joe Paterno coached him, and Joe Paterno abandon him. Penn State has way too mnay players lacking discipline and coach.
Penn State use to be an outstanding place to play football, go to school and be part of something special.
Today, it is a place for Lawyers to thrive and stinks in both character and content of its players, coaches, and stidents.

i'm not so sure this is Joe's fault...
look at how these kids are followed coming out of high school. The pressure must be enormous, and if the kid isn't very mature or already has an inflated ego, chances are he's going to think the world is his on a blue and white platter. I think that this whole recruiting business is way out of control, and the pressure on the kids and the pressure on the staff to get the best recruits possible (how i've prayed for 5 stars) that honor and integrity isn't something you always find in highly sought recruits.
Sometimes i think we forget that these are just dumb kids, and you add the huge party atmosphere at the campus with peer pressure and bad judgement, and you have our current PSU situation.
take away the glamour and hype from recruiting and maybe these kids can be more down to earth about just how good and special they are.
Joe isn't trying to just maintain team discipline, he's fighting against the recruiting monster in college football.

Why hasn't thier been any word on the spring game or practices in a while...those of us who are not in state and can not watch it on tv are in the dark...I know you have posted some positive stuff in the recent past but it was very little...how about posting something...I know you guys don't like posting for posting sake but what is your opinion on the team at this point, RB situation, QB situation, depth with injury issues, LB situation, CB situation...you see what I'm getting at alot of us are in the dark with this program and when only negative or positive stuff is shown we have a skewed perspective

No draft projections...no talk about perspective recruits [numerous] who MAY be choosing Penn State very soon...no evaluations. Have all of you guys been drugged with tainted KA?

I'm sorry all I heard was blah, blah, blah I'm a dirty tramp. You can't seriously believe your statement...can you? Where do you people come from and how did you get the internet there? Do you know what is more ridiculous than your statement? The fact that you actually took time out of your day to post this garbage, man your life must suck. Oh, and by the way, we all know it's a wig Phil...just let it go.
Reply to this
are you saying that he didn't have an offer from Florida? they tried to persuade him their way
Reply to this
My statement was in no way referring to any offers he may have. It was referring to idiotic statement about how LO was busy thinking of ways to put the kid down. If you truly believe that then you, sir, are acting like a moron.
Reply to this
how can we show LO respect when people like this defend it...are you one of the main people behind this site, if so then where is the maturity...you react to critizm with elementary libel...I hope that you do not represent your fellow blogger's in that statement b/c that is one of the most childish things I have ever read on this site...and if you are so defensive about people commenting like this then why not post something (anything) so that there is actually something to comment on...I believe that he was simply stating that this site has recently been leaning toward the negative side of PSU football and we would like to hear some news about something else...talk about us signing recruits (I hear we have 3 verbals already, why not post that) or talk about how spring practice is going...I garuantee if someone got arrested it would be posted in minutes but I guess no news is good news and you can't ridicule JoePa when there is no bad news
Reply to this
No, I am not one of the main people behind this site. You talk about being childish but do you not think that the original post was childish? Is the comment true or necessary? I am not defensive about what he posted just offering my opinion on his statement. I do think his statement was moronic. The initial passage was intended to be the way it is to illustrate that any moron can get on here and post something ridiculous. Thank you for continuing to prove this point. Please return to your LO bashing.

"I'm sorry all I heard was blah, blah, blah I'm a dirty tramp."
I am not arguing with you that his comment was what you call "moronic" but I don't believe that you needed to have this statement at the begining of your comment...as much as I want to be on your side and defend LO (which I believe is a good site I just wish they would post more) I have a hard time when you have this in your arguement...It seriously discredits you and any statement you make there after...Did he unjustifiably bash LO? yeah I believe he did...but you did not have to respond like that...why resort to name calling and defamation when making a counterpoint...this is a blog people and our opinion doesn't mean jack squat in terms of the big picture but that doesn't mean we can't be civil to each other while debating things here...does it?

Curious, that was a joke. It is a movie quote from the movie Mr. Deeds. It was intended to be light-hearted, but I can understand how that could be misconstrued. Not everything translates well in writing and I will consider that in the future.
Reply to this
It def makes more sense now...maybe next time just start off stating that, that was a quote from Deeds or whatever pop film, I def misinterpereted it and I don't think I am alone in that opinion...I was just thinking that when students and alum from other schools come here to read this blog and we have comments on here calling each other "dirty tramps" and what not it does not show PSU in the best light...and yes the actions from the few players on the team that get in trouble don't represent PSU well, but I believe that we can transcend that and show respect to our fellow PSU brothers and sisters...

It's really starting to look suspicious over here with the lack of stories. Maybe you don't only focus on the bad, but you're ignoring an awful lot of good right now, and perception is everything.
I'm sure if somebody got in trouble or anything bad there would be all kinds of action on this site, which is just sad.

The next post on this site is going to be about the quarterback recruiting and how its negative.
They couldn't possibly focus on the fact we are filling needs on the offensive line, and in the secondary very early into the recruiting year.

This is impressive...6 verbal commitments for the '09 class and not a single commitment post or congratulatory thread/post on any of them.
Ty Howle (C)- North Carolina
Mark Arcidiacono (OT) - Pennsylvania
Stephen Openg-Agyapong (S) - New York
Malcolm Willis (S) - Maryland
Darrell Givens (C
And the newest verbal commitment, Derrick Thomas (C
We've got 2 CBs, 2 S, 2 OL...all positions of need that have been addressed and nothing...
3 Maryland kids - one in Darrell who will probably be a top 5 CB & 5/4 * prospect and another probable 4 * CB recruit in Derrick when all is said and done with regard to both of them. Howle will probably be a 4/3*, Arcidiacono will probably be a 4* and you guys have nothing to post about...that is disheartening.
How about a film evaluation on Jelani Jenkins...you know, the 5* LB that we have as good a shot at as any recruit that we are currently recruiting. Film Evaluation on Justin Brown the WR from Delaware...Film Evaluation on Jaleel Clark the WR from Pennsylvania.
